1. Why are people that are anti- war and anti- death penalty almost always pro-choice?
2. Why is vulgar language a freedom of expression but prayer in a public place offensive?
3. Why will Darwin scientist not publish a paper to point by point debunk creationism if there is so much irrefutable evidence?
4. When did the terms illegal alien and immigrant become interchangeable?
5. When did political opinion become offensive?

To my Democrat friends (yes I have some):
You are right. Conservatives are up in arms about the amount of money being spent by this administration. There were no Tea Parties during the past administration when spending was out of control.
My question to you is where were you?
Don't we need to start somewhere?
It would be a real shame when Republicans gain control of the house and senate again if the Tea Parties disappeared.
This country is caught in a vicious circle of political corruption on both sides and someone needs to break that cycle.

The Misquote
I am a regular listener to Rush and Beck. I am also a regular reader of Media Matters and The Cincinnati Beacon. I watch MSN and Fox News.
We all know that good ratings equal extreme rhetoric. Both ends of the political spectrum hold very different views on every issue. It seems that there are enough sound bites that could be taken in context to illustrate a point.
Lately, it has been the norm to take sound bites out of context and use them to create public outrage. Rush used the word retard on his show last week. In context he was taking a poke at Rahm Emanuel using the word retard. Surrounding the comment he joked that it would become a sound bite that would result in him getting in "trouble" with the media. He was correct.
With technological capabilities there is no longer an excuse to misquote someone. There is no longer an excuse to take things out of context in error. Today misquoting is deliberate and malicious.
Some sites are based entirely of sound bites and misquotes. Media Matters is an excellent example of this practice. I read several articles about Rush's retard statement- along with the string of comments posted in response. I also heard the live broadcast of the actual statement in question. The disparity in facts was almost alarming.
It is time for us as intelligent Americans to take responsibility for the "news" that we are ingesting. The resources are readily available to check sources and the context of statements. If we are not doing some quick research we are just being lazy and contributing to the problem.

Lockland Lawsuit
Christopher Knecht a Lockland resident who is suing Lockland for displaying the 10 Commandments outside of the town hall. His claim is that it is unconstitutional and goes as far as calling them “religious fables and myths”.
The bottom line is that he is not the first to call foul on religious displays. I find it very amusing that he has been in legal trouble himself and has found a lawsuit the best way to lash out.
I would love to find a suite that I could bring against the city or state for a display of humanism that I find offensive. I would happily give the attorney all of the damages won in trade for his or her time. Apparently it does not even have to be a suite that makes sense if I truly feel “damaged” by the display.
By the way separation of church and state is: one not a law, and two a statement made to keep the government from ESABLISHING an official church.

Sign me up as the new Reds closer
Hillary Clinton’s has a campaign blurb stating that she saw first hand what it was like to be president and that she is therefore prepared for the job.
I watch a lot of Reds games… and have for more than 8 years. In fact I have watched with interest for about 20. Surly that qualifies me to play…. Right?

Christmas Sprirt
I love Christmas. I love getting together with family, baking, shopping and the general merriment that goes along with the entire season.
Along with all of the good comes a great big dose of stupidity. The first example is Sydney, Australia. Santa is no longer aloud to say HO, HO, HO! He is now supposed to say HA, HA, HA! As to not offend anyone, lest they think he is calling small children prostitutes.

The Socialism Parade
We need to wake up as a society. Socialism is no longer creeping in we are throwing parades and ushering it in with ticker tape.
Healthcare
Sea Trade Treaties
Amnesty Cities
Imminent Domain
Political Correctness
Religious Intolerance
What happened to the tradition of great thinkers in this country? What happened to the pioneering spirit that our country was founded on?
Why are we following in the footsteps of country’s and systems that are failing? It seems we are spending most of our time apologizing as a country for not being like the rest of the world.
We need to wake up or we will find ourselves in a country that we don’t recognize.

The Nobel Joke
Al Gore … really? Over a woman who risked her life to save 2,500 children during the Holocaust!
Al Gore will not give up his private plane, yet he is worthy of a Nobel Prize. Give me a break.
Who can expect more from the committee … after all they did consider nominations for Stalin and Hitler. Mossolini, Kaiser Wihelm II and Alfred Ploetz all received nominations and were considered for the prize.
I guess I don’t have a chance …. Seeing as I am not a communist or a socialist. More on that later.

Survivor
I have not been keeping up with my blog.... between the new job and the wedding I was a bit swamped. I can not resist commenting on the departure of Rosie O'Donald from the View.
IT'S ABOUT TIME!
I don't get to watch the View very much anymore, but when I did she made the entire experience unpleasant. She is, in my opinion a prime example of the social decay of the media. Hopefully, Rosie will stay off the airways and save us all from her constant whining. Maybe she can do something constructive with her time, she has talked enough about how to change the country, perhaps she should run for office.
Congratulations Elizabeth, you survived.

Free Ride
King’s Island tried to discontinue free transportation for employees this season. Gasp! What’s the big deal? It makes sense that King’s Island no longer needs to bus employees in from the city, population is dropping. The Mason, Lakota and Kings School districts are able to support the staff that King’s Island needs to run the park. But the city of Cincinnati stepped in and put pressure on the park to keep the bus service running.
What other employer provides a way to get to work? Isn’t the whole point of a summer job as a teen to problem solve? How am I going to get to work? How am I going to pay for gas or bus fair? A free ride to work was a perk of the job, it was not an entitlement. But that is what we teach the youth today – entitlement. When you are young it’s a free ride to work as people get older it’s free healthcare. What is next?
I have news – someone is paying for all of the free stuff, and you better believe it’s not the people who are using the service.

Not to harp, but....
This is an email that I received from Rock the Vote:
Dear Katrina,
At Rock the Vote we want to break down every barrier and make it easy for everyone to vote. Others want to build barriers.
Shouldn't the right to vote be protected for every American? Unfortunately, we have already started seeing instances of voter suppression, like we saw in 2000 and 2004.
If you want to know what you can do to ensure fair and honest elections check out the new film American Blackout, a Sundance award winning documentary that looks at the barriers to vote for many in America. Once you see the film you will want to take action in your community.
Go Rock the Vote Everyday.
p.s. Voter registration deadlines are here nationwide. With skyrocketing debt, financial aid cuts, the situation in Iraq—what are you waiting for? Register to vote at your current address, now!

Rock the Vote
When did Rock the Vote start taking a political side? I realize it is MTV and it’s not going to be ultra conservative, but when where does it say that you can’t watch MTV and be a Republican?
Rock the Vote started out as an organization that encouraged young people to vote. Just to vote, not vote for any political party. Rock the Vote was a movement about educating young people about the importance and the responsibility of casting a vote in every election.
I was at one time a big supporter of Rock the Vote. As I got older I drifted away from the movement a bit not because I no longer believed in its importance, but because I got information from other venues and honestly I was no longer the target age. I went back to the site to see what was going on and I was a bit shocked and dismayed. No longer the bi-partisan group of my youth, now just another voice of the Democratic Party.
It’s too bad. The concept was great, encouraging socially conscious people. Now it is just another cattle drive.

The View
In the past I have said on multiple occasions that The View is a great chance for liberal woman to voice their option under the guise of entertainment.
No longer is that the case.
The new picture of The View is a bunch of liberal woman voicing their opinion with a clear political agenda. They no longer try to hide behind guests and free gifts for the audience.
Rosie joined the show at the beginning of September. Since then the veil has fallen, Rosie is “educating” us on world problems and how they all rest at the feet of George Bush and the Evil Empire.
The show has always outraged me, yet I continue to watch it whenever I have the chance. Just like I watch CNN and listen to talk radio. I try to balance out the madness by listening to Michael Savage.
The bottom line, they are all crazy. What happened to the average citizen.

God works through us
I could not resist posting this. I do not know who to credit for writting it, but I think its great.
A United States Marine was attending some college courses between assignments. He had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In one of the courses, he had a professor who was a vowed atheist and a member of the ACLU. One day the professor shocked the class when he came in. He looked tothe ceiling and flatly stated, "God, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform. I'll give you exactly 15 minutes." The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop.
Ten minutes went by and the professor proclaimed, "Here I am God. I'm still waiting." It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got out of his chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him knocking him off the platform. The professor was out cold.
The Marine went back to his seat and sat there, silently. The other students were shocked and stunned and sat there looking on in silence. The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the Marine and asked, "What the hell is the matter with you? Why did you do that?"
The Marine calmly replied, "God was too busy today protecting America's soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid shit and act like an ass hole. ... So, He sent me."
